Sustainability Initiatives for ICDE 2025

At ICDE 2025, we are committed to minimizing our environmental impact and promoting sustainable practices. Our initiatives include:

Waste Reduction and Sustainable Catering

  • Elimination of Single-Use Plastics: We will replace single-use plastics, including water bottles, with reusable alternatives.
  • Plant-Based and Local Menu Options: Our catering menu will prioritize plant-based dishes and locally sourced ingredients, with a reduced focus on meat, particularly beef.
  • Robust Recycling and Composting Programs: We will collaborate with the venue to implement effective recycling and composting systems to divert waste from landfills.

Carbon Offsetting through Tree Planting

  • To offset our carbon footprint, we will partner with a reputable organization, such as One Tree Planted, to plant trees on behalf of the conference.
  • Carbon Footprint Estimation: Based on our estimates, the carbon footprint for ICDE 2025 is approximately $10 per attendee. With an expected attendance of 1,000 participants, the conference budget alone will not fully offset this carbon footprint.
  • Individual Offsetting Options: We will provide attendees the opportunity to contribute an additional $10 during registration to plant 10 more trees, especially for those traveling from long distances.

Sustainability Messaging and Engagement

  • We will highlight our sustainability initiatives prominently on the conference website and in all promotional materials, encouraging attendees to engage and support these efforts.
  • By implementing these sustainability strategies, we aim not only to reduce the environmental impact of ICDE 2025 but also to inspire our attendees to adopt sustainable practices in their organizations and personal lives. We believe that this comprehensive approach to sustainability will enhance the long-term success and positive reputation of our conference.
