Huawei (16:40-17:10)
As AI continues to reshape industries, the role of databases as the foundation of intelligent applications has never been more critical. In this talk, we introduce GaussDB and GaussVector—Huawei’s unified, cloud-native intelligent database platform designed for the Data + AI era. GaussDB, an enterprise-class distributed relational database, has demonstrated outstanding performance and reliability across key sectors including finance, government, and manufacturing. We will explore its cutting-edge innovations in performance optimization, high availability, and intelligent automation using AI. Additionally, we will discuss the evolution of GaussVector and its role in bridging structured data management with AI workloads. Finally, the talk will highlight the technical roadmap ahead and the key challenges in advancing database technologies for next-generation intelligent systems.
Dr. Lei Wang leads the architecture and system design team in Gauss Department of Huawei. His team has been focusing on innovations of cloud-native disaggregated architecture, heterogenous hardware cooperation, AI4DB/DB4AI, etc., in pursuit of higher performance, availability, intelligence, security and scalability. Recently, his team is exploring a unified data management platform for both traditional structured data and emerging non-structured AI data.
Tencent (17:10 – 17:30)
We will briefly introduce the history and main applications of Tencent’s database called TDSQL, and share Tencent’s cutting-edge research and practices in the field of database systems. This covers distributed database systems, delving deep into the optimization strategies for distributed transactions, as well as the lock optimizations under high-concurrency workloads. In terms of concurrency control, we have innovatively explored a hybrid approach that combines deterministic and non-deterministic concurrency control methods. Regarding database isolation guarantees, it involves technologies such as black-box checking, online timestamp-based transaction isolation checking, and enhancing end-to-end database isolation checking through mini-transactions. We are committed to promoting the development and innovation of database systems across multiple crucial dimensions, including but not limited to transaction management, concurrency control, and transaction isolation.
Yuxing Chen received his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Helsinki, Finland, in 2021. He currently works as a senior research engineer in the database R&D department at Tencent, China. His research interests focus on database performance and evaluation, transaction processing, and database storage. He has published papers in several prestigious conferences such as SIGMOD, VLDB, and ICDE.
